I heard ATM are not well spread in PNG. How true is that?
Will be arriving from Jayapura with only credit cards (visa and Master card) Is there and ATM in Vanimo? Better to withdraw loads of cash and change them first in Jayapura?

Bring USD cash, which you can normally change in provincial capitals.
You can also get cash advance from cards over the counter.

In Jayapura you could only withdraw Indonesian currency, which is not really useful in PNG.
I wouldn't count on being able to buy USD cash there either...
