Average cost per day in South Pacific Islands - Update?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hello,

I read many guides and forum but I believe the cost they propose is not updated. So, for people with first hand experience, what's the average cost of travelling in central america for some sample countries?

I found this website but it looks oddly expensive for what I heard:

Thanks!

OK, so what has that got to do with the South Pacific?

Incidentally, the prices on that page you linked to are totally unrealistic.
You will hardly find a budget room anywhere in Kiribati for £18, while in Fiji it could be much less than £40.
Overall, it claims Fiji (in reality about the cheapest country in the region) is the most expensive country in the Pacific, costing even more than French Polynesia (which may well be the most expensive one in reality).
Tonga, probably the 2nd cheapest country in reality, is listed as the 3rd most expensive, almost on par with French Polynesia.

The whole thing is utter nonsense and should be totally ignored.

I have only lived in and stayed in Solomon islands, but I think the price estimates are too high, and would only apply to Honiara, and the few resorts. Budget meal estimates are way too high - you can get local fish and chips for about 1 pound, or buy cheap local food to cook at the market. In a home stay in the provinces you might pay 20-30 pounds including meals.
Internal transport is cheap on local ferries, expensive on planes.
