Beginning of a RTW or so I hope trip.Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
So here is the deal, My dream was to go to Europe at the beginning of this summer but this kept getting pushed backed farther and farther and I could not make it even though most of my friends did. So unfortunately as I am getting ready to travel they are heading back home (southern california) I am still very eager to get going and want to see and do as much as possible. The reason I was so dead set on Europe, specifically Spain was my first love and job is DJing and Ibiza is the homeland for the music I do. Now that its late September and going into October Ibiza is closing and most of Europe is cooling down and I am a drink and hangout at the beach kind of traveler, not 1 for throwing on a jacket. Im really trying to figure out what I can do in the mean time until next summer without blowing all my money, Im thinking Thailand or Australia but right now it seems Thailand will be a bit stormy and rainy until at least December, I don't want to be running thru rainstorms for 2 months until its busy, hot and the parties are pumping on the beach again. My second option was Australia, specifically Brisbane, Gold Coast area. Only hold up I have with this is its a bit more expensive even just for entry, and I would definitely need to find work to tide me over thru summer if I was going to be living in Australia where I wouldn't need work in Thailand since its so affordable. This is where Im hoping more experienced travelers could help me, How likely am I to find work in Australia If i were to go in early to mid October at Hostels or what not? ( I have applied to ALOT but have been told I need to just come in ) and would you recommend anywhere else to send me in the world. I want to go somewhere warm, with good music and young people and be able to drink on a beach regularly (i know i'm THAT guy) Australia sounds like the ticket but is also a big commitment in terms of getting a visa ($$) and how far it is away from everything else. Just don't want to get down there and not be able to find some decent work since I would want to be there until at least January, Then Id probably hit thailand for a few months before going to Europe finally. As you can see I basically know that Australia is the place for me, I just need to know what kind of work is available and how easy I might land some this early in the season. Im 23, My trades are DJing and Bartending and Im from SoCal. Sorry If i sound like a rambling idiot, i'm terrible at posting on forums.
