Camper Van from Perth To Sydney - Cook islands & Fiji on the Way

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi,

Right I am going to be flying into Perth with a girl mate. We want to buy a camper van and travel up the west coast along the top all the way round to Sydney. Does anyone have any advise on this?
Would you Hire a van or buy?

Also we want to fly out to the cook islands and Fiji whilst on our way round, how much would flights be roughly we want the cheapest possible?

Any advice related to this would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks
Kat

Kat, are you arriving in Perth soon? If so, it will be the worst time to travel across the North, as the wet season can begin from November on. Better to begin that trip in April or a little later.

You'll have to go on Air NZ or Pacific Blue to get to the Cooks from Australia, they both stop in NZ. As you seem to be going around the world, you should get a ticket all the way to the US or UK, not just to the Cooks. You won't be allowed in the Cooks unless you have an onward or return air ticket. And for this kind of ticket you can only use Air NZ.

You can't get to the Cooks from Fiji, so to hit both you'd have to go back to Auckland NZ or Australia.
