chile to easter island and beyond

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

anyone ever done this route cheapish.
ive done some research and get as far as tahiti for 700 pounds sterling .Just wondering what options are avalible without having to go via buenos aires LA or other very indirect routes
cheers mudy

The only routes to Easter Is. are from Santiago or Tahiti, about twice a week. Try to stay six or seven days. You'll need three to see most things, but most tours don't operate in the rain, and it can rain any time of the yr.

As to costs, well it's cheaper to include it on a RTW ticket that does go via Santiago. Once in Tahiti you can continue on that ticket to NZ etc.

You could fly into Tahiti, but that's from LA anyway. From there it's about US$600 RT to ET, more or less, so cheaper to just hit it as a stopover on One World Alliance, which includes LAN Chile. That's the only airline serving EI.
