| irear12:58 UTC28 May 2018 | We have recently returned from PNG and would like to pass along some tips: In Goroka we hired Kai Nypore 7289 3340 for a day tour (300kinas for 2 persons). He included a singsing ceremony, Asaro Mudmen ceremony, PMV transport, traditional lunch and visit to a waterfall. We recommend him. For the Sepik River we hired Claytus cyambon@gmail.com 7345 5827. We recommend him. We corresponded with about four different people before the trip and he was the cheapest and seemed the more honest. He charged us 500kina per day (including canoe, driver helper and guide, petrol not included). For the traveling days to/from Wewak/Pangwi, we paid for his transport and he left it up to us how much we would pay him for the two days. In the river we stayed at his place in Korogo but we recommend that you stay somewhere else as his house is in very bad shape. In Muschu Island we stayed at George’s guest house. We do not recommend him. He is very expensive and he also stole from us. Instead we recommend staying at Yuo Island. The island is beautiful, much more peaceful, less people, better snorkeling, and the guest house is much better and cheaper. Robert and his family are very nice people. Nairobi Guest House 7276 1483 naigboi91@gmail.com. In Rabaul we stayed at Rabaul Lodge. It is very run down... they recommended a guide to climb Tavurvur with us. The man was totally out of shape. We had to wait for him all the time and he kept complaining. On the way back he called his brother to come pick us up because he could not keep walking. Unfortunately we have forgotten his name. He was an older guy. In Kokopo we stayed at Rapopo Plantation Resort, we really liked it. Worth the splurging! In Mosby we stayed at the Raintree Lodge, we recommend it as well. They have free airport transfer. A safe taxi to use in Mosby: Ila Geno 7459 2089, 7629 7784. Hope this is helpful and thanks to everybody who has posted comments. They were very helpful to us too!
