Confused: Do I need a visa for Tonga?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
I'm a Danish citizen. I want to go to Tonga (from Auckland, NZ) for max. a month. I get various info on the net regarding the visa situation. Do I need to apply for a tourist visa before entering the Kingdom (if, how much, how long does it take to get, approx.?) or do I automatically get a 30-day visa on arrival as long as I have an onward ticket out of the country? Clearing things out would be of great help! Nicolai
Check this site. - don't know how official it is, though. | 1
As a Danish citizen you do not have to obtain a visa before arrival but you will get one upon arrival for stays up to 31 days. This does not refer to all EU-citizens though - citizens of Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovak Republic and Slovenia still need a visa if they are not in transit only. | 2
You can get a 30 day extension to your Visa if you are in the Country longer than 31 days. Apply for it at the local immigration office; my wife thinks she paid 50 or 60 pa'anga for it. You can apply for it even after your visa has expired, just make sure you do it before you fly out, otherwise Customs will hold you up. | 3
