Cook Islands AccomodationCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
Hi, Myself and two friends will be visiting the Cook Islands in April for 2 weeks. We've booked three nights in Vara's and are wondering whether we should book all 14 nights before arriving or leave it open until we get there. Any advice on accomodation or any information on the Cook Islands in general would be greatly received. Thanks Sally
Hi Sally, Congrats on your trip to the Cook's and I am sure you will enjoy your stay. You give me little information as to your age, budget or interests are which makes it difficult to suggest lodgings. Vara's caters to a younger backpacker crowd and can be wonderful or a bit on the loud side depending on who is in residence. It is near the lagoon, near restaurants and activities. You are coming during a shoulder season and their should be plenty of alternatives in April. I would suggest you stay with the 3 day booking, get a feel for the place and then if not happy you can switch to numerous places within walking distance of Vara's in the Muri Beach area. I agree with Mike. Vara's can be good or bad (noisy, etc.) depending on the corwd that is there. If you find you don't like the other 50 or so people staying there. check out Aremango (1 km south) or some of the other places. | 3
Sorry about the lack of information! We're 22 and backpacking around the world, so on a tight ish budget (about 15 GBP a night). We like to go out occasionally, but aren't really big "party people". Thank you for all the information, we really appreciate it. Sally | 4
