cook islands RAROTONGA accomodation advice - kura kabana, tianas, hideaway?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
hi there, seeking some advice/wisdom on choosing a great place to stay in rarotonga for my wife and myself. everything i've read so far tells me to stay near muri lagoon. the pictures have me sold. we don't want to spend more than $230NZD/night, but we're looking for: question - some places describe their location as "muri beach" and others say "muri lagoon". are they both the same location? if there is a difference, we'd like to have a view of the lagoon. research has led us to these places thus far: which would you recommend? any others you would recommends? thanks in advance. Hello Drulee, In answer to your questions, references to Muri Beach and Muri Lagoon are talking about the same spot. The lagoon circles the island, some of the best swimming is in the Muri Beach area. Right now one of the best deals going is over at Sunset Beach Bungalows, which has beachfront air consitioned studios for NZ$110.00. It is not on Muri Lagoon, but within a couple of miles on the bus if you wish to swim in the wider, deeper portion of the lagoon. Shell & Craft Bungalows is where I am currently staying, they are not on the lagoon, but are just a stroll down the path to the beach and excellent swimming, with a table on the beach for picnicking. I believe pricing would be around the same as Sunset Beach. Have a great trip! Papa Mike | 1
