Cook, Vanuatu - what's the weather like?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

in february? i read it rains a lot but is it constant or just sunny with sudden downpours? still worth going or better when having a chance to go during a different time?

Mostly sunny with occasional downpours. Main thing is really the humidity. If you hate humidity, don't travel around the South Pacific from Jan to March.

no problem with humidity at all. I used to live in the Amazon! It's rain that ruins holidays, really, but if it only rains occasionally and then it's mostly sunny then that's fine

cant wait to go to the south pacific. been wanting to go all my life. thanks for the tip!

Good to hear you don't mnd humidity. It's probably not as bad as the Amazon!

One can get three or four days straight, but in seven years of building my little resort we only averaged about six days a year when I told the guys not to show up for construction work due to rain. So, it may rain for an hour or two, usually, then sunny for a few hours, then a half hour of rain, etc.

Of course, if you get a cyclone---pretty rare, maybe one direct hit every 5 yrs or so---then it can rain for four or five days pretty hard.

Have fun!
