Cooks or Fiji Honeymoon?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
So we wanted Bora Bora but it's just too expensive for those overwater bungalows. I've researched and see both the Cooks (specifically Aitituki) and Fiji (many of the islands) have amazing beaches with bungalows right on the water even if not overwater as well. It seems like Fiji has more meal inclusive packages to offset that it's pretty expensive. The Cooks do not. Can anyone comment on the quality of the beaches between the 2. We are thinking white sand, turquoise water, great close snorkeling without having to take a boat everytime we want to snorkel. Are the meal packages in Fiji worth it? Thanks!
I like the Cooks. For honeymooners two spots come to mind. Aitutaki has a wide range of accommodation, some nice places to eat and a lot of things to do. A good moderately-priced place is the Etu Moana with a beach-front bungalows with reasonable privacy, a nice lounging and pool area and a great staff. If you want seclusion and total privacy Mauke is a great choice. There's a place owned by Ta and Teata called Okiva Point that is very nice with your own spot overlooking the water and coral reef. | 1
Hi! I've never been to Bora Bora, but I have been to Fiji and it is gorgeous!!! I stayed at http://www.kulubay.com which is located on Beqa Island, Fiji. It is a short 35 minute boat ride from the main island, Viti Levu but the resort has their own catamaran that takes you to the resort. All 3 meals are included and also non-motorized activities. My favorite was the snorkeling. The resort is set in a secluded cove so the water is so calm and clear! Gorgeous! Great snorkeling right in the cove of the resort so I never had to take a boat out to do that. The snorkeling was free which was nice. So much to do at this resort, the bures (this is home in Fijian) are large and the staff was so delightful! I can't wait to go back! It is such a romantic place : ) If you have any other questions about Fiji let me know | 2
Fiji has much better accomodation than Cooks (I have lived in both places) Check out Tokariki Island Resort, Likuliku Island Resort and also the newest one Tadrai Island Resort. All specialise in honeymoons and are child free. Edited by: girlinfiji | 3
