Cost Sharing- Boat Transfer from Nadi to Octopus Island 22nd Oct

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi,

Is anyone interested in cost sharing a boat transfer to Octopus Island from Nadi airport at approx 3pm 22nd Oct??

The cost of the boat is US$400 and will be split by the number of people travelling. It's just myself and wife and if we can just get another couple it would be enough (ie US$100 each). The boat can take 6-8 people.

The boat is provided by the resort and details are available on their website-

Is anyone keen to save a few bucks???

Cheers

Simon

For a start, there is no "Octopus Island".
Octopus is a resort on the island of Waya.
You can also get there on the daily Yasawa Flyer shuttle boat, which is cheaper if you don't have a group. And more reliable - one couple I met who took Octopus' own boat told how it broke down on the way to the resort, ending up floating for hours while rescue arrived! They also took the Flyer back to the mainland... ;-)

Thanks for the input, however our flight lands 2:10pm and, from what I've seen, all other ferries only leave in the morning- including the Yassawa flyer that you mentioned.

Unless you know of any that go in the afternoon??? Don't care what type of boat it is, just need to get there in the afternoon.

Nope, the Flyer is indeed only once a day.
So you either spend a night in Nadi, or go by whatever is available.

We have used the "Octopus" boat on their "regular" run.
There were about 18 people on board and half of us were drenched to the skin by the time we arrived.
It was a different boat (they were chartering something) for the return, but the result was similar.

Another (expensive, but very nice) alternative would be to charter a float plane from Turtle Airways.
