Costs - New Caledonia and Vanuatu

HI All -

Trying to determine how expensive New Caledonia and Vanuatu are for the solo traveller. I remember a few years ago, I found Fiji to be very affordable. Is the same true in these places?

Any first hand experience or general idea of costs would be appreciated. I will be travelling solo so I know that things are going to be a bit more than if travelling with a friend. Some sort of general idea / price range would be appreciated.

Also, does anyone know if there are any reputable scuba schools in these countries? costs?

In general, I found costs in Vanuatu and NC to be about twice as high as those in Fiji.
Even by camping and getting around the cheapest waay possible, I still spent 30 USD or so per day. And that certainly does not allow for diving or the like!
