Crossing the Pacific

My partner and I are moving from Australia to Europe but wanted to take 6 months of travelling to get there. Our challenge is to do it without flying - only land or sea based transport.
Is there any way of crossing the pacific ocean? i.e. ship from NZ to Hawaii and then Hawaii to US?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You would need to either travel on a cruise ship or contact a yachtie and sign on as crew.

Some cargo ships also take PAYING passengers - it costs more than flying though!

And overlanding from OZ to EU is much easier via Asia anyway.

Thanks for the idea - do you have any idea where I would get any more info on becoming crew on a yacht?
