| globetrotter0814:55 UTC30 Dec 2007 | Hi, I am going to Fiji for a week in February. I am interested in getting my open water dive certificate. I have read about some places that have packaged deals, but am unable to decide what is best. I am an unexperienced diver, but will be travelling with my boyfriend who would like to do his advanced open water so I think he would appreciate going to a good dive spot. Can anyone recommend a good package? We are also interested in seeing more then one spot in during our stay. Are there any packages that allow you to move from island to island for your lessons and dives? Thanks for you help!

You could - in the Open Water Course - finish for example your theory and confined water (that's the part you learn diving skills) with one operation, then ask for a referral from your instructor and finish your open water dives with another operation. It can also be split different or even 3 times. However, I do not recommend it. Why? 1st - it usually is more expensive, than completeing the whole course with one operation. 2nd it is often better staying with one instructor, let the instructor get to know you, build a level of trust between you, especially if you should face any problems with learning this new sport. And this is nothing unusual. The advance course could also be referred - even after each dive. As less people you have in a course, as better your instructor can take care for you and invest more time in you. This should be a point considering. Do your course away from the main tourist track and you will have an excellent dive course - and most likely cheaper.

If you are only in Fiji for one week then you won't be able to move around that much.
My advice if diving is important to you then get off Viti Levu and check out the better places such as Taveuni and Kadavu.
