Extra Luggage at POM Airport

In all of the available information about crime in PNG, I haven't read anything about "lost luggage" at the airport (which is a big issue in Johannesburg, for example). I have to take a four month assignment in POM before being taking my next long-term posting. All in all, I'd like to take six large containers as my checked luggage with the basics of my life.

My question is how often does luggage go missing in Port of Moresby? Is it a frequent occurence? Will customs give me a hard time for showing up with six bags? Would I be better off using a cargo company to provide door-to-door service?

Maybe you wouldn't take them....maybe you like to travel light....maybe you wouldn't take a box of your favorite kitchen utensils, a year's supply of your favorite medicines, etc., but having lived overseas for six years now, I know what my "creature comforts" are.
