Family accommodation for a month

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi

My husband, our two year old son and I are going to be spending one month in Samoa next April. We would like to rent a (budget!) property for the whole month and try and experience Samoan living.

I have googled sites but haven't managed to find anything.

Can anyone help? Or have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi there, looks like we're planning the exact same thing :-)

We (family of four with two kids 2 & 5) are also planning a month in Samoa on our round-the-word trip. We've are looking for a rental house but, from what I researched so far, they don't really seem to exist.

We got very good reviews on the Satuiatua fales (http://www.samoa-hotels.com/satuiatua/Index.html) and the Taufua Beach fales ... and think we'll probably split our time between the two.

Feel free to e-mail me directly, I'd be happy to share what else we've dug up on Samoa so far:

And I'll make sure to follow this thread, hoping for some good suggestions on where to stay longer term.

Best of luck,

Uwe

We have stayed for 6 weeks at Vaiala Beach cottages in Apia, not really a true Samoan experience but close to Palolo Deep where we snorkeled every day.
They do special rates for long term stays.

Friends could not really find a rental house in advance, but once there they made a deal for a long-term stay (3 weeks I think) in a fale they like outside Apia. Can't remember the name. But I think this would be a good option, and the funds will go directly to the fale owner, rather than 20% or more going to a rental agent you might find on the internet.

So, maybe choose a place for the first few nights, then ask around once you are there.

Thanks for all your responses, much appreciated.

I'll go and investigate!
