favorite island hopping places, diving course

Hello,
I'm looking to hear about your favorite island hopping places (low-key, no luxury resorts please). I've got the month of March and want to spend time by the sea, do some diving, snorkeling and writing .... and thinking. I'm especially interested in places where the islands are not so far apart and easily reachable by short boat rides. I'd like to take a PADI Rescue Diver course somewhere in there too. Thanks for your ideas.

Solomon Islands. There are many islands in this country, it is less frequented by tourists. You can get to places like Maravagi by fast boat from Honiara.
I love Malaita, though there are no dive facilities, it has fascinating culture. A fast boat, Discovery 360 links Honiara and Auki, the capital.
There are several dive schools in Honiara.
