Your best chance of getting up to date information about the ferries in Tahiti is to go to www.tahiti-explorer.com. The posters there should be able to help you with this information. | 1
I have heard that it is difficult to take the ferry from Papeete to islands other than Moorea. Are you sure you want to go to Bora Bora? If you are on a budget, this is quite an expensive island. Moorea is a much less expensive and easy island to visit. Have you looked into airpasses? Or fly to Raitea and take the Maupiti express to Bora Bora. Look in the FAQs section for Silvanocats blog, very helpful. Enjoy your trip. | 2

There currently is no ferry to Bora Bora. There, hopefully, will be one running sometime in 2010. A ferry that plies a route from France to Corsica is supposed to be delivered to FP to serve the Leeward Islands next year. There are cargo boats that travel between the islands. There has been a tightening of rules and regulations and some now don't take passengers or don't take tourists. I've heard that the Hawaiki Nui still does take passengers Airfares are less if purchased in French Polynesia. | 4
Hi Silvanocat Thanks alot, i also knew about the cargo boat and YES Hawaiiki Nui still take in passengers.. DDC | 5
Please report back after your trip, to let us know how things went. I met someone last year on Huahine who waited a really long time - weeks for a ferry ride. Another person couldn't book the ferry, but his French friend could. Hope you have better luck than these folks did. I'm not really sure why you asked the question since you know the answers. | 6
