Three questions, please: two adults, 47 and 57 travelling to Yasawas for a week in July. Then meeting up with friends at Funky Fish resort. not into party scene or seasoned travellers.

1 Suggestions please. One of us is a diver and the other is a surfer but doesn't have to surf the first week. Both are keen snorkellers and like walking, beaches.

2 is it cheaper to book directly through the resorts or through an online agent?

3 I'm having trouble working out if it is cheaper to book individual travel legs (boat) or the Yasawas pass, any help with this one, please?

thank you

Book online direct with Funky Fish, I believe the agents charge them about 15%.
The easiest way to get to Funky Fish is fly into Malolo Lailai airport and they will pick you up from the airport for free if you book direct with them.
We enjoyed Funky Fish.

Some resorts (eg Octopus) do not deal with agents. You should have no trouble booking direct. If you are going to just one Yasawas resort you do not have to buy a pass, just pay for the trip to your resort alone. You may find that you have to return to Denerau to get to Funky Fish though.

Octopus resort on Waya island would be a good choice, not least because there is some nice hiking on Waya.

The logistics about boat costs can be easily worked out once you are there. As already said, if you go to just one island, it's cheaper with a simple return ticket. If you contemplate visiting 2 islands just check the return fares against the cost of the pass once there and you're ready to buy the ticket(s).

Just returned back from the Fijis.

1- I LOVED Oarsman's bay on Nacula for its settings and the friendly fijian staff atmosphere. 100% fijian owned and managed resort (in fact a property of the high chief of Nacula Island and the villagers), after a few days stay you feel like you're leaving your own family.
Coral view resort on the island just in front (Tavewa) has recently started a dive centre, Niko, the fijian owner and instr. will be happy to lead you to a newly shark feeding attraction at Cathedral dive spot, which is more than simply a shark feed plateau : lots of swim-throughs and gorgonian tapestried crevices. Really a beautiful dive not to miss.
Probably the only downside is that it's the furthest north of all the Yasawa flyer island itinerary, hence it will take you 4h30 ferry time one way.

2- you can book directly through Oarsman's bay website. Just mail them.

3- same as poster#3
