Fiji and criminal record?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
Hi there, My older sister has a minor criminal record from when she was 19 (7 years ago now) in NSW, Australia. She has been to France, Italy, the UK and Thailand. She spent less than a month in each country. None of which questioned her upon entry (on their passenger card) about criminal record, etc. We are planning a trip together sometime in the near future to America, South America, Middle East, New Zealand and in Feb we might be heading to Fiji for a wedding. Does anyone know which countries (including the aforementioned ones above) ask about criminal conviction/ arrests on their incoming passenger card? My friend told me that Fiji does. If that is the case then she may need to apply for a visa first. Thanks in advance. Bella.
I don't remember them asking about it on the card for Fiji and even if they did I really doubt they would know the truth if she simply answered "No". I'd be most worried about the US. | 1
Ditto re the worry about entering the U.S. with a criminal record. She might be able to get the record waived at the Australian end, and I don't remember being asked about a criminal record (I never read US landing forms in their entirety, mostly because Canadians never used to have to fill them out) but I know a cousin of mine was barred from entering the US for many years until he got his record squashed somehow, or at least a lawyer did it for him. | 2
The New Zealand Arrival card asks the question below, I would answer truthfully as you do not know what information is available to Immigration and an incorrect answer may see the passenger on the next plane home. Have you ever been sentenced to 12 months or more in prison, or | 3
