| foxhow10:52 UTC08 May 2007 | Greetings Lonely planeteers, My wife and I have had to put off our honeymoon until this summer as she is a school teacher. Having done some initial research with lots of dead and false ends, I have found that Fiji and French Polynesia have the most promising chance for good weather for our time frame of choice-Late June, early July, basically for any place on earth that is known for swaying palms and turquoise seas. We need your help to get the ball rolling. Here is what we are looking for:
1) Bungalow Accomodation, preferably right on the beach-more swaying hammocs than night clubs, more rasta than techno. Secluded if possible 2)Decent snorkling and or scuba diving 3) Within a reasonable distance from a regional airport ( 1-3 hours puddle jumper aircraft, 2 hours boatride) 4) reasonable price-lets say $150.00 a night for accomodation, food etc-bit more if necesary 5)As breathtaking a beach as possible 6) Good food. 7) Any chances to see the un-unpackage tourist "real" islands would be a bonus
Like I said, Im in the initial stages of planning, dont know what particular islands-Any help to get us started would be greatly appreciated-beers and Kava on me! Cheers

You say "more swaying hammocs than night clubs, more rasta than techno" so does that mean you want some nightclubs (forget French Polynesia) or want a little resort (that you book independently) with music playing by the pool or restaurant all day (again, forget French Polynesia).
For your budget (is it US dollars?) you could get a modest pension (which may not be "honeymooney" enough) with great food in FP. You certainly could see some real islands. And now I'm going to give you a link to a place that does package tours. French and Italian tourists buy packages to pensions (a package tour is not a deal with the devil, it's booking your accomodations and airfare together in a package). I have not used Air Tahiti Island Adventures but their site will give you an idea what's available out there in your price range in French Polynesia. Of course, there are plenty of places not listed. You can take a look at the links I've provided in the FAQ to see more accomodation choices.

| foxhow00:23 UTC09 May 2007 | Thank you for the reply, What I am talking about is a little resort-thatched hut bungalow style, more backpacker than package tourist-I have horded a ton of airmiles so Im just talking accomodation and food. No night clubs. An ideal place would be a small resort on its own island or beach, or in an area with not many other resorts on it, relatively quiet-Western facing for the sunsets preferred. That is US dollars Im quoting, thanks.

| foxhow00:35 UTC09 May 2007 | So, in general, for a budget of around $150US a day for two people, give or take, Fiji would be a better place to search than FP, which is significantly more expensive, is that correct?Thank you!

Check their website as they have several types of bures available. You will get a great beach with super snorkeling, fabulous food, awesome sunsets and a chance to interact with Fijians and see some of their culture. About a 2 hour boat trip from the Nadi area. But they are quite popular(great reputation) and getting a reservation for your time period may be tough.
