Fiji Budget 2 Weeks ... ideas? cost?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
Hi Sorry if this has been asked before, but i'm booking an around the world ticket and am looking for some advice. I'm hoping to go to Fiji and experience the real culture homestays/hostles etc....and am hoping to do a bit of island hoping. Leaving the England on the 8th April for 2 weeks. I've got a guide book and it seems alot of places are like $50 (usd) a night! I was hoping to take £500 for 2 weeks, would that be enough...and what would you suggest best. I hear off the mainland is best. But i want to stay in places cheap. What accom? or islands would you suggest? Do you think 500 gbp is too loo and maybe i should go to India or somewhere which is cheaper. Bit confused how to do Fiji on a budget! Do you book before, or is it best like most places to wait till you get there. Thanks for all your help!
I'd recommend a budget of about $100/day for Fiji, which is a comfortable solo backpacker budget. The mainland can be done for closer to $50/day, but the smaller islands are definitely more idyllic. With your budget, I'd definitely head to SE Asia where you'll get a lot more out of your limited funds. Leave Fiji for a time when you've got more saved up and can afford to splurge. | 1
You don't have enough money. If you want budget beaches, southern India is an option. | 2
Hey thanks so much for your help, i found this http://www.awesomefiji.com/default.aspx And you can have 12 days include accom and food for £520. I've never done a tour before what do you think? Cheers | 3
Do you want a tour with people much like yourself all day long (and most of the evening) or to stay with Fijians? Because you can have one or the other not both. "i want to stay in places cheap." Then it's Inja for you Old Sod! Edited by: Ram Ram Fijibaby! | 4
OP, those tours tend to attract Aussies in their early 20s who enjoy getting very drunk. If this is your sort of scene, then it might be worth looking into. If you are looking for something resembling a cultural experience, then I would look at SW Asia. | 5
It is possible to do Viti Levu on the cheap-busses go to most places/most people speak some form of English and budget accommodation abounds. But it's not a 'beach experience' | 6
