Fiji Duration Advice

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Dear All

Well, after posting a 'shall I / sharn't I' message with regards to taking the leap, jacking in my job and finally (40ish female) get to see a little of the world..following the positive responses I received - I'm booking my trip. Thanks.

I am just about to finalise my itinerary - but am confused with regards to how long to spend on the Fiji islands. One friend tells me that 5 days is enough and the other tells me that 10 days will just about suffice.

I have been told that there are trips that take you across to the other islands on an all inclusive basis and I would be grateful to receive your advice if this is worth doing and / or if you think that I can see all and experience that basics in a shorter time.

My budget is fairly tight - £30 per day.

Thanks very much.

I'd say that Fiji deserves no less than a week. I went for 12 days and that was a good length of time, although I only saw a small portion of Fiji in that time.

Unfortunately, your budget will really restrict your options - mainly restricting you to the mainland. A good backpacker budget for Fiji would be double what you have.

The longer the better-budgetwise head east

Thanks very much...I'll try to streach the budget out a little more, following your advice.
