Fiji for Two DaysCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
Can anyone give any advice? I am stopping in Fiji for two ways on my way to Australia. I am 27 years old, and just want to see a little of the beauty that Fiji has to offer. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I should go, what I should see, or where I can stay? I get in at 5am on September 7, and leave at 9am on September 9. Thanks in advance for any help.
Hi Casey Maybe someone els can suggest if you have enough time to visit a Island but I would think that you dont.. so with that in mind and if the budget is not super tight, you could hire a car for the two days giving you the freedom to have a mini look around while you are there. We had a few days on the Coral Coast and loved every minute. We stayed at Tubukula beach bungalows right on the water but there is a string of resorts if thats your thing. There is also a backpackers "The Beachhouse" if thats your preference, or there is village homestay options. Worth considering if you want to meet some locals, see a village and be apart of their culture. If you can afford it, hire the car... it will give you the freedom to see more things in your limited time, plus get you to and from the airport as well. :-) If you cant afford the car, there are local bus's that go to the places mentioned. There is a bus stop out the front of the departure terminal or across the road from the airport entrance. Good luck :-) | 1
#1 has a good idea, but only the main roads are decent, as from Nadi to Suva, etc. With that 9am departure it really means you have to stay in or near Nadi that previous night. There are several backpacker places between the airport and Nadi, and a few mid-range places right near the airport, one just across the road. I'd just pick one of those as your home base for those two nights. You can then head into Nadi town after getting some sleep, and maybe catch a local dance show at one of the places near Nadi. Day 2 you can head north to Nadi, or maybe a short day trip to an island. But another idea for that full day is to book a regular bus tour that heads inland, perhaps up the Sigatoka Valley, or other less-traveled area. A trip to Suva is about three hours each way, so it might be a bit much for that one day. But you could go on Day 1, then come back the next day, if you are curious about the capital. | 2
