Hi there My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Fiji at the beginning of June for around a week. Cheers
Some of the less popular islands in the Yasawa group, like Waya, might suit you. | 1
Also check out Ovalau and surrounding smaller islands. | 2
Me and my boyfriend were in the exact same position last November. We ended up staying 2 nights at Octopus (bungalow's with shared facilities to save $$$) which was very flash and we met some cool ppl, definately not party atmosphere, but great drinks and conversation still. It was our 'flash' place to stay and it was worth it, good value too. We then headed to Flying fish for 3 nights - very very rustic (flushing toilets yes but no power or hot showers, in fact showers more more of a hose than an actual shower). But don't let that put you off, it was so fantastic becuase we got to see more of the traditional Fiji. At Octopus, the managers are Aussie and you don;t mingle with the staff - at Flying Fish the family which run it take it upon themselves to make sure your entertainered (but only if you need it). They serenaded us at every meal and hung out in the hammock with us, listening to my portable music player. But beware - there may not be many other guests there, when we went it was just us plus another girl, though that was low season. We all made great friends, had kava with them every night, ate delicious fijian food and loved every minute. So if I was you, even if you dont choose these places, maybe choose a couple of different ones because 2 or 3 days in one place seemed like enough. When your on Fiji time everything goes slooooww. =) | 3
