Fiji in december

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi there

I'm thinking about going to Fiji in december, but I'm a little worried about the rainy season and how heavy it can be.

Any with experience about that?

Thanks

We never worry about what season it is and have gone at all times of the year and never had a problem in the Mamanuca's. It did rain every day in Taveuni one trip but we still enjoyed the holiday, it just made it hard to get swimsuits and clothes dry.

Depends where you will be staying... The East/South-East rains steadily throughout the year, whereas the West tends to rain a lot less (except for the wet season)... December is in the wet season and this seems to be an exception to above trend... During the wet season, the West gets a lot more rain than the East.... Sometimes it will rain heavily for maybe an hour, then sunshine, other times it will rain heavily for the entire day... Then there will also be days where it doesn't rain at all... Depends on Mother Nature... If it is raining, it is still 30+ degrees so you can still go about daily activities (just no sun baking)... December is also cyclone season.... Cyclones typically hit the west (which means lots more rain & flooding)... But again, depends on Mother Nature as some summers offer a lot less rain & no cyclones... I would still recommend visiting Fiji in December...
