Fiji or the Cook islandsCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
Hi All, I was planning on going to Fiji for a week, however i suddenly thought the Cook islands could be a better option. Any thoughts on which one is better to visit. For some background, Im 30 and do some diving. Im looking to find a pretty relaxing enviroment with some people to chat to..for between 7-14 days. Ill be going in September, Any ideas would be great.. Thanks
I believe that even if you just stick to one main island with your limitied time, Fiji still offers more possiblities (its main island is HUGE compared to the Cooks) and the diving is supposed to be better, too. | 1
Either would be fine. But I think that since Rarotonga is way smaller than Viti Levu, it would be easier to both meet people and get around. There are only a few bars etc that travelers go to, and the locals are also easier to meet than in Fiji (unless you go to smaller villages or islands). Take a few days and head to Aitutaki if you can afford it. check the main website www.ck for more info. Lots of cheap places to stay on Rarotonga. As a single traveler age 30, check out the Paradise Inn to meet other single travelrs, or maybe Aquarius. Vara's has a younger crowd, mostly. Aremango is also a good choice. | 2
