Fiji questions & any money saving tips..

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

hey i am planning on heading to Fiji around 12th March this year, even though it is moonsoon season does anyone have experience of the weather around this time, hoping for a nice beach holiday! also i have booked my 1st night when i arrive to Nadi but am thinking maybe of heading to west islands got 14 days. Am on a rtw trip so need it to not be too expensive even though i know it is not cheap like asia etc. i have a busy trip and want to use these two weeks to chill, do a few culture bits. i want a mix of quite and a little bit of party but not too much. i have looked at it but thought i would just book my 1st nights accomodation and then do what i feel like doing when i get there or would i b best planning it. any suggestions would be great. cheers.

Why don't you just do what you feel like doing when you get there, if you're up to the task? Some people can't deal with the freedom/uncertainty of that strategy and so plan everything in advance. But it's not a matter of which strategy is 'best' -- except, perhaps, what's best for you (and I can't help you on that one).

What I did was to ask a travel agent (in Lautoka .. also picked up some info at the Nadi airport info desks) where all the people were going when making their island reservations to the Yasawas. Of course, I then went somewhere that nobody else was going, but you could choose a 'busy/popular' place if you prefer. Same strategy. It's easy to learn what you want to know when you are there.

Another suggestion which might be too radical for you: I bought David Stanley's Fiji guide, and figured the rest out for myself.
