Fiji, what to do???

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi everyone,

I am in need of a little help,
I have found myself a flight to and from Fiji- LA to Nadi at $620 in June, do you think this is reasonable or could I get it cheaper? I am flying out of Fiji to Auckland for $300, same applies, what do you think?

I am staying in Fiji for 2 weeks, I can dive but I will have very limited budget so I want to be able to see and experience lots but still have money for the rest of my trip.

I would like help with deciding which islands to go to and what to do....

Any suggestions greatly appreciated :)
Thanks
Sarah

wow cheap int. flights you be hard pressed to faind cheaper.
two weeks, thight budget - you have to avoid the turist traps and save on domestic travel in fiji. travel with sunset bus to suva, get across to Caqalai Island, for snorkeling and beach, go to ovalau for a dive, some hiking and cultural experience.... check www.levukafiji.com
back via kings road to nana nu ira, good softcoral diving there too.

If you want to see and experience lots, then the suggestion made in the first post is definitely worth considering. Ovalau island offers a look at some colonial history, a bit of interesting jungle hiking, and time at a couple of lagoon/reef resort islands at Caqalai and Leleuvia . Also, you'll be close to Suva. The town generally does not interest the beach-time holidaymakers, but it's still an interesting place to view local culture .. 'big city' Fijian style.

I loved Safe Landing in the Yasawas, also Leleuvia - amazing island feels in middle of nowhere.
