First time to Vanuatu (solo travel) - what to see, where to go?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

I am currently thinking of travelling to Vanuatu and was wondering what is a good first timers itinerary? Which places do I need to visit and see? I have about 2 weeks and travelling in August. Also, is it safe as a solo female traveller?
Thanks for any recommendations!

HI, we just came back from Vanuatu. I put all our information here:
https://vanuatuonabudget.wordpress.com/
It gives you information about things to see and do in Efate, Santo and Tanna.
It's an expensive place to travel, especially if you're on your own. So you have to be aware of that before you book anything.

Is it safe? People we spoke to who live there said they felt like it's still one of the safest places they had lived, but we also heard that crime is upcoming in the capital, which is unfortunately a logical consequence of the growing wealth for some people, I think.
We met quite a few travellers on their own, funnily enough always girls. You would meet people in the bungalows and or motels in town. If you meet other travellers it will be easier to book a taci for a da to drive you around Santo for example, but you can easily catch a ride on your own to Port Olry and stay there a few days before going back.

Hope the info in the link is helpful. Good luck!
