flight fares and airlines

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Dear travellers

do you know which airlines fly to PNG from Europe and which is the cheapest way to get there? I've been surfing the net and have been quoted outrageous fares! I'll actually be leaving from Italy but don't believe it's the best place in Europe to fly there. Would flying from London be the best... for prices and connections? Also will booking a long time ahead be necessary?

cheers

Air Niugini fly from Singapore, KL, Hong Kong, Manila, Tokyo, Brisbane, Sydney and Cairns to Port Moresby.

Airlines PNG (APNG) and Pacific Blue fly from Brisbane. APNG also fly from Cairns.

There are no airlines flying from Europe to PNG.

Air Niugini have just started flying into KL as well as new direct flights to Hong Kong. There may be some cheap deals on these flights on the Air Niugini website.

Otherwise you will need to pay the outrageous prices we all must put up with.

You wont be able to get many bargains flying to PNG.
What I would suggest is flying to Cairns then onto Port Moresby with Airlines PNG/Air Niugini, which will cost a couple of hundred pounds return. If you get a flight from Italy to Dubai and onto Singapore, which you should be able to do for under £400 pounds return if you do some reasearch(try checking the Arab airlines). From S'pore, Tiger Airways to Darwin and Jetstar to Cairns. All in, your looking at between £600 and a £1000, it all depends on when your hoping to fly out.
Good luck
