flight to ofu

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

ok so i know this sounds crazy. i am going to be in samoa and want to get to ofu. i have looked into inter island airway, and it's out of my price range. BUT i really want to get to ofu..... is there any chance that i could find a local island hopping pilot who would take me there for cheaper.

As far as I know there is not a single private plane in Samoa, neither in American Samoa nor in Independent Samoa. Therefore to go to Ofu there will be no island hopping pilots, only Inter Island Air.

You don't have $150 for the fare? hmmm . . .

Whatever the case, wksamoa is correct: you're not going to find shadetree pilots and planes in either of the Samoas.

If you've the time, take the MV Sili to Ofu. If it's sailing, the fare is about $30.

I would do $150, but I still gotta get to Pago Pago from West Samoa thus it would end up being $300. What is the MV Sili? I tried to look it up......
Thanks for the help.

The MV Sili is the supply vessel (they take on passengers too) that runs from Pago to Manu'a. Contact at 684-633-4701. They typically sail once a week, but since this is American Samoa we're talking about you should plan on being flexible.

I have lots of American Samoa/Manu'a Island travel tips in my Vaoto Lodge FAQ on
vaotolodge.com.
