Flights between Tari and Mt. Hagen/Goroka?

My sister and I are planning a short trip to PNG in November and have been looking into spending some time in the Tari region, primarily for birding. We would also like to visit the region around Mt Hagen or Goroka. As we have limited time, we were interested in flying from Mt. Hagen/Goroka to Tari to avoid a return to Port Moresby. Flights appear to be limited or nonexistent since Airlink stopped operations in 2007. Does anyone know anything about MAF and their schedule? It sounds like the PMV ride from Mt. Hagen to Tari would be long, miserable and possibly even dangerous.

Also, any recommendations about where to stay in the Mt Hagen region? Or the Kumul Lodge near Wabag? Any other suggestions for lodges catering to birders would be appreciated!

Trans Niugini Tours have their own aircraft to fly guests between Tari, Mt Hagen & the Sepik. Airlines PNG may be able to offer a service. Check www.apng.com
