Air Pacific to fly direct to Hong Kong from December
Thursday, 29 October 2009

Air Pacific has announced the launch date for its inaugural non-stop services from Nadi to Hong Kong, and has expressed confidence that the new services would be viable.

Air Pacific is expected to announce its financial accounts, and already it has given indication that its long-haul Japan route has incurred significant losses. But the carrier is confident that its new service to Hong Kong and its significance as a hub to mainland China, will see the services succeed.

"This will definitely help increase the number of tourists from China to Fiji and we are happy to be part of the local tourism industry as we are in other areas of trade with Fiji," said a Chinese Embassy spokesperson to local paper Fiji Times.

The service is also expected to increase arrivals from the United Kingdom and Europe, with travellers able to travel with codeshare partners and hub through Hong Kong.

FJ318 will depart Hong Kong for Nadi at 1705 each Thursday and Saturday in order to arrive at 0705 the next morning. The return flight will then depart Nadi at 0855 in order to arrives in Hong Kong at 1510 on the same day.

Air Pacific's twice weekly services will be flown in a two-class Boeing 767 from the 3rd of December this year.

Great news for me - though direct flights from Singapore or Malaysia would be better still! ;-)
