Flights NZ to Cook IslandsCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
Hi, My Fiance and I are planning our honeymoon to NZ and the cook islands at the end of october/early november. from what i can see it only seems to be Air NZ and Virgin australia who fly from aukland to Raratonga. Is there anyone else that i have missed? we will be booking from the UK. Also it looks like air rarotonga is the only airline that flys between raro and aitutaki, any other ways to travel between them that anyone can reccomend? many thanks, sharron
You're right about the air service. No others at present except Air Tahiti to Papeete., and that's booked through Air Raro. in the Cooks. Your profile didn't specify the country you live. There is a LAX-RAR-AKL and a AKL-RAR-LAX flight that can save you some money and time, if your'e coming from the US. | 1
Hi, Thanks for your speedy response, we live in the UK, so could have the option of flying the US route rather than the asian route qas they are both about the same time...is that flight with Air NZ? Thanks. Sharron :) | 2
is that flight with Air NZ? Yes, it is. You could fly from London to Rarotonga changing planes in Los Angeles all in a single booking with Air New Zealand but be aware the non-stop flight from Los Angeles to Rarotonga is only once a week. BTW, don't forget to verify the requirements for people of your nationality transiting in the USA. | 3
#3 is correct, once a week on ANZ. NZ19 leaves LAX just before midnight Saturday and arrives 9-10 hours later on Monday morning around 06:00. NZ19 then continues on to Auckland leaving Raro around 08:30. The return is NZ18 that leaves Auckland Saturday afternoon and arrives in Raro that night. Then it continues on to LAX leaving just before midnight arriving in Los Angeles around 11:30 Sunday morning. You can see from the above schedules that the Cook Islands are on the other side of the International Date Line from the US. A concept that comes easy intellectually but takes on increased dimension when you experience the phenomena. | 4
Thanks guys! :) | 5 | |
Hi Sharron, If it's not too late for this information, you can book your international inbound fare through to Aitutaki, which will save on a separate domestic fare. One way at least. Air Raro is the only domestic airline. But from this year, the sailing vaka will be commencing Rarotonga to Aitutaki sailing adventures, with the option to fly back from Aitutaki. | 6
