Flights to Fiji and what to do while I'm there

Hi everyone,

I am planning to fly LAX to Fiji, then on to Auckland, does anyone know a reasonabley priced way to do this?
Also can anyone reccommend which islands to visit and the cheapest way to do while I'm in Fiji?
As you can probably guess, I am a budget backpacking student!
