Fly around on New Guinea

I understand, from reading reports, that it would not be easy to get around in Papua by public transport. Will heari about it is best to have planned throughout its journey from home or whether it is fairly easy to book flights on the way?

Easy to book along the way.

Actually it depends on the time you are traveling, e.g. if you want to get to the highland festivals I would strongly recommend you book your flights in advance.

Our plan is to travel in August 2014, for four weeks
