Fly or Sail Between These Islands

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

I'm thinking of visiting during the Perseiod, Geminid, or Quarantid meteor showers, or when the Aurora Australis is visible for an added perk.

Potential Itinerary with possible excursions to nearby uninhabitated isles by local guides when needed:

Fatu Hiva
Fakarava Raimiti
Fakahina
Taouere
Rapa Iti
Tubuai
Mangareva

Side question: When would whale or dolphin-watching season be?

Hope you have LOTS of time & money on hand - some of the islands you listed are only accessible on very infrequent cargo ships, I believe.

Ok, so I cut down my list to Fakarava, Fakahina, Taouere? Mangareva. The only option other than sailing by myself is through Air Tahiti.

All inhabited islands are also visited by occasional cargo ships - you could hop on one if the timing works out well for you.
But of course if you get off to stay, there is also the issue of leaving, so you will almost definitely need to fly at least one way.
Good luck!
