Flying to Port Moresby, but border crossing to Indonesia

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

I've got a dilemma as I plan to catch a plane from Australia to Port Moresby, and then border cross at Wutung to get from Vanimo into Jayapura Indonesia.

For the PNG visa which I will apply for in Australia, i need to provide proof of onward transport.
But of course I will not have any.
Should I buy a refundable plane ticket to Indonesia?

When in PNG I'll apply for my Indonesian visa, so don't think there will be problems there.

Thanks!

bump3. i thought this was a fairly straightforward question.
must be due to the bad forum setup.
the default setting doesn't actually bump new topics to the top when you post in them.
and as each topic has such a large preview, topics can dissapear pretty quickly

Answer - yes.

You may well need to buy a refundable ticket out of PNG.
And then another one out of Indonesia to get your Indonesian visa, too.

ok thanks. can anyone reccommend who to buy through if i need to get refundable tiks? With
PNG I'm pretty sure you can only fly with their local airlines. Indonesia though i'm open to suggestions?

To keep things most simple, you may just buy the cheapest Air Asia or Tiger Airways ticket from Indo to Malaysia or Singapore, and then throw it away if you don't use it. It could cost as little as $10-20, which is less than what you lose on refunding most refundable tix.
