French Polynesia - Which of Tuamotu islands?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Only 5 days to go... Im chiseling my itinerary and still cannot decide on Tuamotus which i take on after I come back from Tahiti - Bora Bora - Huahine and Moorea.

I've been looking at Tikehau but still ambivalent.

What am i going after? Only one island of Tuamotu group (round trip from and to Papeete). Off beaten tracks, staying in small bungalow or fare in a traditional village or pension - good value for affordable price, good snorkeling spots, scenic island and its motu, turquoise lagoon, etc.

Im in Tahiti single and on budget and do not wanna burn all my money on accommodation when i am less sophisticated. I figured maximum 5000-8000 CPX (without/including full board)

Which island of Tuamotu group rings true with above description?

Which island would you guys prefer?

thanks a lot

Hello
we just been to Fakarava, an atoll in the tuamotus, the best diving spot we been been so far, millions of sharks, rays and wall of fish, it is very quiet, there is a good budget accommodation for 7000with kitchen use , a must there. Called Relais Marama, they have mail adn are in the LP, tehy pick you up from the airport, one we went to a great restaurant, called Snack, despite the name, great ambience and delicious food.
