Getting to Fiji

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hey all

My girlfriend and I are looking to go to Fiji from London, but we're finding it extremely difficult to figure out the best (and cheapest) way to get there. Does anyone have any clues? I see that most hints point to change over at LA. Does anyone know the best airlines to travel with?

Cheers

Dan

Air New Zealand usually has good summer deals. Currently, it appears you'd have to transfer at LA for an Air Pacific flight onward to Nadi.

ANZ used to fly this route themselves, but apparently no longer.

Don't go. Romantic image is somewhat hamoered by crime rate and theft from travellers.

I always book my flight through trailfinders who always come up with the best prices, usually through LA with Virgin/ Air New Zealand, or Air New Zealand all the way. I think the Air Pac. flight is now a code share with ANZ due to a fall in passenger numbers. Air Pacific are just as good as ANZ. The other cheap way is Korean Air via Seoul. Anyway, try trailfinders as they know their stuff. If you fall into the right age bracket STA may get you a good price. As for crime rate and theft risks- a bit of common sense usually reduces this.

Just booked my flight to Fiji via L.A.departing in two weeks through Trailfinders- £750 including taxes. That is an unbelievable price. If anyone can sell a ticket cheaper than that they must have stolen it.

The options you ought to look at will depend on what other travelling you're looking at in Oceania, for instance if you have an intent to see asia/australia, you might just want to check out flights to Oz as there are some good packages to Fiji from Oz that include reasonable quality accomodation, a lot better than hostels.
Have a look at Bestflights for packages, flights to Oz and also RTW ticket options that could also work for you.

If you're going to come to Oz first, have a look at Oasis for London to HK and then either Jetstar to Sydney, or a ferry over to Macau and VivaMacau to Sydney.
