Getting to FP for little money

Hi!

I will be going to South America in a couple of months time, and I would really like to go to the south pacific islands afterwards. As of now I FP would be the first stop. However, getting there seems rather expensive; the cheapest one way flight I could find was app. 2000$. I've also looked on going there with a cargoship, but even that would set me back 100 euros a day. Is it possible to get there in any other way that is less expensive? Is it possible to work as payment for the voyage?
