Good snorkeling in Palau, Micronesia?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
I want to snorkel Palau and Micronesia (I'm not a diver) and wonder if there are any inexpensive, friendly places to stay and snorkel off a house reef in Micronesia. I don't need luxury or a white-sand beach, just want to be in the water all day and hopefully meet some nice local people. Edited by: dancingdolphin
If you decide on Palau, there's good snorkelling right off the beach at the Palau Pacific Resort in Koror. | 1
And the PPR is not inexpensive by anyones standards. However the Carolina resort is a bit cheaper and has a joint relationship with the resort. But they are not inexpensive either. | 2
Try Lehn's Motel (from $45) in Koror or The Marine Antelope Club, which has single rooms for $25. | 3
The beach at the PPR is not just open for all visitors. It is for guests although you can sidle in usually if you are eating and drinking there. Don't know how strict they are about it at this point. | 4
Hi, I live in Micronesia on the island of Kosrae. I think that you can find walk in snorkel spots on most of e islands out here, but it will require a bit of work. I think that it will be best if you can easily get to the reef, walking forever through mangroves or across dry reef flats will get old in a hurry. Good luck! | 5
