| aliceb03:43 UTC30 Oct 2011 | I'm planning on a short 7-10 day trip in late Jan/early Feb. I really just want to swim and relax on the beach somewhere with super nice, calm, warm water. Ha'apai is currently top of my list of places I think I'd like + in my budget.

I know its rainy season but are there usually any probs with excessive wind, water clarity issues, or sea lice in late Jan/early Feb?

My travel style is flashpacker. Somewhere like Matafonua Lodge is out of my budget (unless I managed to get a discounted rate, budget would be around 100TOP per night, travelling alone) but I like to feel comfortable when I'm inside my accommodation (mainly that it would be clean, mold free and "bug tight" so I didn't need to worry about insects inside the shelter, or that there would be holes where rats could get in). Would some of the cheaper places fit this criteria?

How big of an issue are dogs? I'm scared of dogs and manage to cope ok in places like Thailand but will it be possible to lie on the beach without dogs around? Like I said, I can cope, but if there are dogs around the beach I tend not to be able to fully relax so I prefer to move down the beach to somewhere without dogs around.
Thanks to Laszlo for replying to my previous question :-)
