Headhunters, crocodiles, and dugongs

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

What do these have in common? Melanesia and environs. Where is the best, off the tourist track, place for all of these and not too expensive?

I think you are about half a century late, sorry.

There are plenty of crocodiles - enough to cause problems, deaths and injuries in some fairly accessible parts of Solomon Islands, but I don't think anyone organises "looking at crocodiles" tours.
I have seen dugong in various places there, and once or twice eaten dugong meat, but again, there are no "looking at dugong" tours. As for headhunters, they haven't been active there for decades, though I have some friends who could pretend to hunt your head, if you like.
There are places in the Lau Lagoon in Malaita (and probably several other areas of the country) where men can go and see skulls from the headhunting days, but these are taboo for women.
