Help - Poem?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
I have been looking for some lines from a poem (?) that I recall from years ago. It is about lying in a hut (fale?) at night, with the constant sound of waves crashing onto the reef - I think it was a Tahiti-related work. Searched all the books in my library this afternoon, and tried my best on Google. I thought it was in some lines from a poem by Rupert Brooke, but I have spent the afternoon searching his pre-WW1 Pacific poems, and can't find anything that relates. Now I'm not sure whose lines they were - don;t think they were RLS, and sound too romantic for Jack London, but I've also looked at Pierre Loti and can't find them. Does anyone have any ideas - or a direct link? Thanks, Rob
