Help...Urgent advice needed - Plantation Island resortCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
Hi everyone, need your advice urgently as we are booked to go mid Dec. Can you please tell me if you have bought meal packages from there, how much was it? Our travel agent is offering $32pp per day for B/Fast and Dinner. Is this cheap? Can you also tell me how safe from theives the rooms are on the resort. Do they have a safe in the rooms or at reception Please reply . Need to know .... Thanks
We don't usually take the meal plans but F$32 PP/Day sounds reasonable and probably less than you would pay for breakfast and dinner off the menu. | 1
Also not been to Plantation. I also dont usually take theplan when there is an alternative. On an island , there is NO alternative place for meals, so you are likely to save by taking it. | 2
There are alternative places you can get meals outside the resort but they would not be cheaper than F$32. | 3
millions of Australians have been to Plantation Island but you will have to settle for expert advice from this Yank. I have been to Plantation Island , so I must love it there. You will too, though the time of year you are going has it's drawbacks. Mosquitoes can be bad on the island as well as sand fleas. The latter are not a problem in winter (when I go) but mosquitoes can be and it seems to have got worse in recent years. I blame management for it as I have stayed on much lusher islands and never been bitten once. Try to get a bure on the 200 block side of the resort. It's just nicer and the bures are a little more spread out and less congested. We have never bought a meal plan. We fend for ourselves at breakfast bringing food from home such as cereal. There are two small stores on the Island that have bread, milk, cheese, and other foodstuffs, and all the rooms have fridges. Lunch is pretty inexpensive on the beach, which is what I do. You can get various kinds of burgers and other sandwiches plus fish and chips. Dinner we eat in the restaurant. I get the buffett which has a different theme nightlty, is all you can eat, and in my opinion is quite good. Last year the cost was 26.00 Fijian. Check out the exchange rate to determine what this translates for you in Australian dollars. | 4
No safe in the room but you can use the safe at reception. Also to note they do supply beach towels (you leave a refundable deposit)so don't bother packing them. Had a great time there. | 5
