Hideaway at FijiCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
Does anyone have any experience with Hideaway Resort on the Coral Coast. Looking to go there later this year (with kids). Also, can you leave the resort to look at anything locally, or is it too isolated? Is there anywhere to buy alcohol except at the resort (prices)?
From memory, this place is on the Coral Coast. The cheapest place to get alcohol (aprt from bringing it to Fiji) will be in Sigatoka - about 10 min cab ride from the Coast. Sigatoka is a quaint town with a supermarket, market, cafes etc. Stock oup on soft drink and snacks for the kids- clean out the bar fridge at the resort for this . | 1
There is the Tavuni Hill fort, the Nakabuta "pottery village', the Natadola beach, the Sigatoka sand dunes, and the Kula Eco park all within several miles of Sigatoka. Most willbe easy for you to get to by taxi or bus. I would suggest using Rusi's tours at www.adventuresinparadisefiji.com but not the overpriced ones by the hotel. There is glass bottom coral viewing and deep sea fishing offered in Qalito village near Warwick. If you want something really cool, you can arrange a visit to Vatulele Island by calling Atu or Mere at 653-0184 or 924-4493. Very interesting and special. Don't forget the duty free at the airport for the alcohol. Have fun! | 2
