Holiday recommendations for 23-25 year olds

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

My friend and I are interested in a holiday where we can relax during the day by the beach and enjoy the nightlife. We're not into the party hard attitude like Bali and Thailand and are looking for something a little more refined (if there is such a thing!). Basically we don't want to be stuck in our hotel rooms at 11 pm!

At the moment we're looking at Fiji and Vanuatu. We do have a budget so we're not looking at something really expensive.

If anyone has any suggestions for a destination to travel to in late September this would be greatly appreciated!!

Definitely Fiji - both the cheaper one, and the better one for nightlife.

Most "real" nightlife (for locals) is happening in cities on the main island of Viti Levu though, and of course those cities are not great for beach.
Alternatively, you could try the more backpacker-oriented resort islands like Beachcomber, where you could definitely be on a good beach by day and enjoy nightlife afterwards, though the only nightlife option would be limited to the resort you stay at, with the same people who are around you all day.
And these resort islands, even the ones for backpackers, are not really cheap by Fijian standards either.

On a lot of the Pacific islands, having 2 beers after dinner and being in bed by 11 pm IS considered partying hard!!

Laszlo, where are you now?

Nowhere interesting (Home Sweet Home).
Sg. I hope to to mend before mid-summer!
Thinking of going somewhere cooler, for a change... ;-)

OP, are you in Australia? If so, start your search by looking at where you could go with discount fares. Think Fiji in the main.Pacific Blue have direct flights from Eastern Australia.

Fiji is the biggest Pacific place and has the most options. If you have frequent flyer points to spare also look at New Caledonia, as the points needed are relatively small and the savings on fares greater.
